This is a quick guide for upgrading from Symantec DLP version 14.6 or older, to Symantec 15.0 and newer for use with Napatech SmartNICs.
Please follow these steps.
Windows:
First Uninstall the Napatech 2G driver:
- Stop Symantec DLP and all associated services (network monitor etc.)
- In the device manager right click on the Napatech NIC and select "Uninstall Driver"
- Click the "Delete the driver software for this Device" check box
- Click "Uninstall"
Next, install the new Napatech 3G driver:
- Run the installer executable in the "software" folder
- Follow the instructions on the screen
Check that the Napatech driver and service are up and running:
- Run "Program Files/Napatech3/bin/monitoring.exe (Linux: run /opt/napatech3/bin/monitoring)
- You should be able to see the port link status and packet counters are changing (if there is network activity)
- Click "q" to quit.
Now you are ready to upgrade Symantec DLP
Linux:
First Uninstall the Napatech 2G driver:
- Stop Symantec DLP and all associated services (network monitor etc.)
- Unload the Napatech 2G driver: /opt/napatech/bin/unload_driver.sh
- Remove the driver files: rm -Rf /opt/napatech
Next, install the new Napatech 3G driver:
- Extract the tarball: tar xvfz ntanl_package_3gd-11.2.0_Linux.tar.gz
- Change directory to archive directory: cd ntanl_package_3gd-11.2.0_Linux
- Run the installer script: ./package_install_3gd-11.2.0.sh
- Follow the user prompts
Start the Napatech driver and service:
- Start the service: /opt/napatech3/bin/ntstart.sh
- Run: /opt/napatech3/bin/monitoring
- You should be able to see the port link status and packet counters are changing (if there is network activity)
- Click "q" to quit.
Now you are ready to upgrade Symantec DLP
